Welcome to Small and Simple, where great things are to come!

A recent post in Times & Seasons, a group blog that I participate in often, had an interesting post by Kaimi, one of the permabloggers on the site. Although many people contended with him on the gender issue and content, it triggered a thought in my human mind. “Why not have a topical blog myself?” Further enlightenment to my brain was, “why have a blog that is specific to arguments and contra positions? What if we were to build upon others, the way we might in gospel doctrine class”. Rather than arguing sides, why not promote healthy discussion in adding to information and insight?

Hence, Small and Simple is revealed.

I am a ward mission leader and as part of the calling I help teach the Gospel Essentials class along with the other ward missionaries. I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching and participating in the class, even more than I did in the Gospel Doctrine class in that we discuss the simpleness of the gospel. I am in a belief that if we adhere to those basic principles, we will learn all that we have to learn in this life for our salvation. Perhaps there are deeper doctrines that can be fun to learn, but to save oneself from ignorance to the gospel, they must only learn the simple principles and apply them.

With that said, I will use the topic to be prepared for class out of the Gospel Principles book, and use that as the weekly topic. This will be a place that I may pose questions, feelings, thoughts, and insights of the topic at hand. They may be posed as deep or shallow questions, which will hopefully receive additional responses by others. This may be one or many discussions during the week, depending upon the comments and need for additional posts. If you feel that you would like to start a post, email me, I will be glad to post if for you if I feel that it has merrit to the topic and have the necessary space. The whole intent for commenters will be to add to the discussion, with little arguing*, through building on ideas, sharing experiences, using scriptural references, etc, to give the readers a grander idea of the principle at hand. For those commenting, a good rule of thumb that should be used would be to ask yourself if the comment is to add to the understanding, or to simply make a point to bring another down. If the latter, rethink your post.

Welcome to Small and Simple, where great things are to come.

*Note* Although arguing is discouraged, it may be a tool used to help some people think. Use it wisely.

All are welcomed to this site. Both believers of the LDS faith and those that are not. Both the highly educated and those that are not. Simply stated, the gospel is for everybody and not just the Lawyers and Educators, therefore all are welcome here. If you wish to discuss and argue with them, as I do often, please go to TimesandSeasons.org or other bloggernacle greats.
